Origami into art

I have seen this image on pinterest for quite a while and I wanted to see if my students could create work that was just as interesting.

I mean these are really neat, right?  Well I put the challenge in front of my students.  I asked them to create an origami shape that they would repeat on top of a simple cardboard shape.  I'm not sure if it is a project that I will do again, but here are some of the results.

  1. This is so cool- what type of glue did you use to glue the origami down with? What were the challenges of this project? Wondering if I should try to tackle it with my students....
    Thanks for sharing :)

    1. We discovered that you had to paint the cardboard that you are going to attach the pieces to. We basically used hot glue, but a few of them like the butterfly have had trouble keeping those pieces on the cardboard. Honestly i don't know if I will do it again. It was a hard one for the students to get excited about. Thanks for asking.

  2. this is really cool. it looks really hard to do. it looks fun though. i think it would be fun to do with our class. i think that the paper folding would be the hardest part of this project.
