These op art cubes belong to the high school Art 1 class. My only true rule was that they had to try to make them up on their own and not to copy from the internet. So each side of the box should have a different design, except for the one student who decided to make the box look like ribbons that wrap from all sides.
This is the place to find ideas for art projects, or just a place to talk about being a creative educator.

beginnings of Oldenberg sculptures
Art 1 has started a HUGE project this week. We started by looking at the artist Claes Oldenberg and from there we decided to amke our own huge sculptures of usually small objects. This project will take a few weeks, but I had to show off the beginning stages.
Giant shoe
Future Chocolate bar
Hunger games pin
ice cream cone in the making
Rubber ducky This is the first time I have let students ever work in groups on a high school project. So far it is working well, but we will see when it comes time for the painting.
